Mediterranea delle Acque S.p.a. a Iride ACQUA Gas – Italy

Mediterranea delle Acque S.p.a., a Iride ACQUA Gas subsidiary, Italy has been established in 2006 following the merger of the three companies managing the water services in Genoa: Genova Acque, Acquedotti De Ferrari Galliera e Acquedotto Nicolay. The company operates drinking and waste water services in the Genoa area and in 39 municipalities within the Genoa district serving about 700,000 inhabitants.

Mediterranea delle Acque has participated in several research projects at European level aimed at developing and demonstrating in ad-hoc pilot sites, innovative technologies applicable to different sectors of the water cycle. The field of application of the aforementioned project dealt with real time control of urbane drainage systems including modelling, build up of adequate hydraulic infrastructure and related devices for their operations through SCADA. Further projects dealt with water resource management in the framework of a multi-sources water system. Further applications dealt with clever loggers acquiring measures viewable through a web-based user interface linked to innovative sensors such as the use of marine radar as meteorological radar or spectrophotometers enabling to detect COD, suspended solids and 254 different substances.
